Blade Servers
Each 'Node' is powered by an HP BL460C High Performance Blade Server. With Dual
and Quad Core Intel Xeon Processors and Gigabytes of RAM. Each node is connected
via the Blade backplane fully redundantly with multiple 1Gbps network connections,
multiple 4Gbps Fiber Channel connections.
Storage
Powered by HP EVA-8000 Storage Area Networks, the Nodes have no local storage of any kind, allowing us to ensure all data, configuration and settings are maintained even in the unlikely event of the node physically failing. With 146GB 15Krpm FC Drives, Multiple controllers and storage virtualisation, maximum performance and redundancy are maintained.
Virtualisation
The entire grid runs the world-leading VMware virtualisation platform. Allowing executing of multiple operating systems (including full Microsoft compatibility) VMware offers a wide range of Enterprise features coupled with unbeatable maturity and stability.
Network & Security
Every node is uplinked redundantly to two, fully redundant Cisco 6500 series switches, which provide backplane connectivity between Blade Chassis and uplink to the core transit networks. With Cisco ASA firewalls, VPN terminators, F5 Big-IP Load balancers and a range of monitoring and analysis systems in a full N+N configuration, we can offer carrier grade network services.
Environmental Credentials
With carbon footprint and emissions at the forefront of most business agendas, the cloud platform has impressive credentials. With blade / SAN configurations already offering consumption of just 40% that of equivalent single servers, our virtualisation brings that figure down close to 20%. That's 80% reduction in power requirements, while still delivering world class performance.
